About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal Command, 106th Signal Brigade - Fort Huachuca, AZ.

Duties

Operates, programs, maintains, and monitors the CS2100/SL100 and like type telephonic switches. Examines and analyzes status and operation trends of various equipment/circuit performance making recommendations for modification or enhancements when necessary. Performs studies of telecommunication traffic through the CS2100 and provides guidance as needed to supervisor. As needed, interprets and provides detailed reports on the switch. Identifies and resolves telecommunication technical problems to include receiving trouble reports and reviewing and recommending appropriate action for resolution of all ISDN, CS2100 and related troubles within 24 hours of identification of problem. Works with sophisticated and interrelated application and device software programs for voice mail, telephone management, and automated directory assistance systems. Responsible for maintaining the 911 dial plan capabilities by providing up to date directory information and maintaining connectivity to commercial emergency numbers. Installs, tests, repairs, operates, and maintains telecommunications systems and equipment such as HDSL devices, VoIP Handsets, data systems, ISDN and modular telephone systems. Performs work on Electronic Private Branch Exchanges and Carrier VoIP Solutions, which includes installation and removal of equipment, cable facilities, and etc.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CS2100 Carrier VoIP UAIP Commission Certification.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Cisco Certified Network Associate Voice (CCNA Voice).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
  • Incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-MInformation Assurance Workforce Improvement Program.
  • TDY up to 15% may be required.
  • Overtime and on-call duty may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
  • Required to perform 24 x 7 shift work in support of operational IT related mission/after duty hours on call/emergency requirements.
  • The incumbent must be capable of operating a motor vehicle (for onsite repairs) and maintaining a valid state driver's license.
