This position is at the VA Madison Medical Center, under the Chief Financial Officer, Accounts Management Department, located in Madison, WI.
Duties

Duties include but may not be limited to:
Accounts receivable (collection) functions of the revenue program including third-party insurance reimbursements and other account receivables.
Analysis on outstanding third-party receivables.
Receives, processes, and responds to a variety of communications generated by third-party payers.
Audits, analyzes and reviews information regarding the established third-party receivable to discuss the status of the account when inquiry is made on follow-up.
Maintains and updates computerized records of debts to document collection efforts and identify trends for management.
Maintains account receivable files.
Follows applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of access codes, etc., as set out in the computer access agreement.
Handles conflict and problems in dealing with customers constructively and appropriately.
Work Schedule: Fulltime, Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS 4) in Federal Service that includes performing the following duties: Processes lower complexity claims such as outpatient claims requiring use of fee schedules.; Contacts insurance companies to expedite collection activities.; Updates computerized records of debts.; Uses regulations, directives and SOPs regarding revenue functions and debt management actions.; Handles conflict and problems with customers in a constructive and appropriate manner.; Provides consistent information to customers upon request.; Utilizes standard office software applications.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED):
successful completion of 4 education above high school.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED):
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education (beyond 18 semester hours) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. The education portion must include graduate courses directly related to the work of this position.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements:
