This position is located in the Division of Risk Management Supervision (RMS) of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Charlotte or Raleigh, NC. Salary reflects a pay cap for this position of $280,000.

Duties

The incumbent serves as the Examiner-in-Charge (EIC) at a large, highly complex FDIC-supervised financial institution. In this role, the EIC will spend no more than five years in any single institution. Conducts and advises on highly complex bank supervision and examination functions, with a view toward assessing risk, as well as strengthening and improving the condition of the assigned organization, as appropriate. Develops a supervisory strategy that is structured to effectively assess the organization’s risk, is tailored to the institution, and meets FDIC’s statutory requirements. Develops formal plans and programs designed to correct deficiencies in the operation of the assigned organization, and obtains commitments from bank officials where deemed appropriate. Conducts the ongoing analysis and evaluation of the financial condition, business initiatives and future prospects of the assigned organization and its affiliates to assess the potential risk to the deposit insurance fund. Using the tools and techniques of financial analysis, prepares special studies and reports, and evaluates the probable impact of planned and alternative courses of actions on the assigned organization. Performs activities related to the review, analysis and processing of reports of examination, applications, investigations, and other examination management duties involving the assigned organization. This would include, among other things, the oversight or preparation of memoranda and recommendations for the Regional Director, as well as miscellaneous correspondence directed to the FDIC Washington Office, State Banking Departments, other Federal agencies, and financial institutions or holding companies. Prepares written reports summarizing the results of analyses, or to inform senior management of significant events orissues. Serves as the primary regulatory point of contact for the assigned organization, both internally and with the organization. Communicates with financial institution management and the general public, and effectively responds to or resolves their questions, complaints, and inquiries. Reviews all developments applicable to insured financial institutions and their affiliates in the assigned organization, including accounting, reporting, and regulatory changes, as well as new activities and products. Apprises FDIC senior management at both the Regional and Washington Office of significant developments. Maintains an informed position on economic and financial trends which may affect the assigned organization. Monitors changes in regulatory requirements, marketplace developments, the assigned organization’s products and services, and other changes. Identifies when further knowledge, experience or training is needed and seeks resources to meet those needs. Participates in or conducts examinations, investigations, or analyses of large, complex institutions which are not part of the assigned organization as assigned. Provides technical advice and training to appropriate supervisory personnel, and prepares reports, manages or assists on projects, and performs other tasks as the needs of the Division of Risk Management Supervision dictate. Oversees, reviews and evaluates the work of team members. Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications, applicants must possess the leadership and technical experiences listed below. These qualifications would typically be gained through serving in roles that require managing projects/teams or guiding the technical work of others. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: All applicants must submit a resume that addresses each minimum qualification experience. Leadership Experience: Experience leading and coordinating projects, including establishing expectations, reviewing work products/services, monitoring progress, and providing guidance and feedback to team members. Technical Experience: Experience serving as an advisor or in leading the review of supervisory matters in examining very large, complex, or troubled financial institutions. Selective Placement Factor: Candidates must be a Commissioned Risk Examiner in the FDIC or another organization with comparable commissioning criteria used by the FDIC’s Division of Risk Management Supervision.
