You will serve as a Physical Science Technician in the Off-Yard Operations Manager Office (Code 300N.3) for the Nuclear Production Manager (Code 300N) in the Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will serve as the Radiological Material Accountability Control Team Leader in escorting and accounting for radioactive material. You will assure adherence to accountability procedures specified by local Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) instructions and Naval Sea Systems Command NAVSEA). You will coordinate, schedule and identify needed materials, manpower and methods to accomplish scheduled workload.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing various processes in several trades sufficient to support planning transfers and accountability of radioactive or radioactively contaminated materials. Experience determining specified procedures for controlling accident/spill situations involving radioactive or radioactively contaminated materials. Experience utilizing methods and techniques for minimizing exposure of personnel and equipment to ionizing radiation and/or radioactive contamination. Experience utilizing general structure of the various vessels powered by nuclear propulsion plants with respect to compartments containing radioactively contaminated systems and/or materials. Experience with adequate containment for components and material which are radioactive and/or radioactively contaminated to prevent loss or spread of radioactive contamination. Experience utilizing specified traffic routes for transporting radioactive/radioactively contaminated components or material within Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Experience determining locations of all radiologically controlled areas within the shipyard as specified by the RADCON Office. Experience demonstrating specified procedures for transferring radioactive/radioactively contaminated components or materials within the shipyard.
