About the Position: Serve as mail manager ensuring postal, message services, and Federal Express shipments meet the needs of the commands and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Duties

Manage the Army Mail program to include mail control, receipt and distribution, postal operations and inspections. Maintain files and records of official mail costs and expenditures for accountability and sufficient funds. Establish command standing operating procedures for postal service, messenger service, mail control and distribution. Evaluate the services provided by the USPS and requires modifications to meet the needs of the command.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • TDY may be up to 5% .
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing regulations, policies and procedures relating to Classified and Unclassified Official Mail; weighing and packaging of various material, applying postage, security procedures pertaining to handling sensitive materials; dispatch of mail; AND operating mail center equipment including postage meter, mailing machine, scales, automated labeling machine and mail management system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/ level position in the federal service GS-06. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Information ManagementProgram ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
