About the Position: You will serve as an Electronics Technician specializing in electronic and electrical systems and components for the Operations Division.

Duties

Tune, align, calibrate, fabricate, modify, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and test a variety of electronic and electrical systems. Install, repair, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and overhaul, a variety of complex electronic equipment, and systems, to include data systems consisting of data switches, multiplexer, modems, and dedicated circuits. Ensure equipment and system compliance with current cybersecurity requirements and maintains close liaison with Information Technology professionals to coordinate support. Improvise, design, fabricate and install new circuitry by adapting and revising established procedures using innovative methods.

  • The incumbent of the position must obtain and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license prior to appointment.

Works as part of a team including field and district personnel to assure timely repair of discrepancies. OR Successfully completed one and a half years (i.e., 27 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Technology, or Technician(NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Have the specialized experience as described above, but less than one year; and I have some graduate level education as described above, but less than the required one and a half years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal Service which includes installing, repairing, testing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and overhauling a variety of complex electronic equipment; Tune, align, calibrate, fabricate, modify, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and test a variety of electronic and electrical systems; and/or conducting periodic inspections of operational systems and components to ensure reliable and efficient performance. Maintaining files including all paperwork and maintenance logs. OR Have two full years of graduate level education or a master's degree in a field of study directly related to the work of the position such as Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Technology, or Technician(NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Have the specialized experience as described above, but less than one year; and I have more than one year but less than the required education above. Have computed the percentage of the requirements that meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 54. Add the two percentages.) The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify To qualify at the GS-10 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level which includes tune, align, calibrate, fabricate, modify, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and test a variety of electronic and electrical systems; install, repair, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and overhaul a variety of complex electronic equipment, and systems, to include data systems consisting of data switches, multiplexer, modems, and dedicated circuits; and conducts periodic inspections of operational systems and components to ensure reliable and efficient performance. To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level which includes tune, align, calibrate, fabricate, modify, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and test a variety of electronic and electrical systems; install, repair, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and overhaul a variety of complex electronic equipment, and systems, to include data systems consisting of data switches, multiplexer, CCTV, commercial video recorders, and dedicated circuits; and conducts periodic inspections of operational systems and components to ensure reliable and efficient performance. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone for GS-10 and GS-11 grade levels--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
