This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, at the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center in Beneficiary Travel, as part of the Veterans Transportation Program. The incumbent serves as the Lead Motor Vehicle Operator and is responsible for supporting a full range of Transportation Office functions to Phoenix VA Health Care System main campus in Phoenix.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Reviewing and managing all required training of all transportation drivers.
Verifying the employees' current driving record annually utilizing appropriate state website.
Reporting staff with moving violations to the Transportation Supervisor for referral to leadership in determining continued future authorization to drive a government vehicle.
Coordinating with the Dispatcher to ensure all vehicles in the motor pool are being utilized and are in constant rotation.
Ensuring mother vehicle operators continue to have startups and utilization of the Dual Use Vehicle busses to maintain operational readiness.
Storing securely all driving record information and related correspondence to avoid compromising personal information to unauthorized individuals.
Coordinating, monitoring, and having oversight responsibilities for the credit card program for Fleet Vehicle government purchase cards.
Applying knowledge of government fleet vehicle and government vehicle credit card regulations for Phoenix VA Health Care System staff using government vehicles for work-related travel.
Advising employees using a government vehicle on travel procedures, restrictions, and allowances, and frequently resolves conflicts or issues related to each employee's use of the government vehicle.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Perform physical tasks to include transporting, loading, moving, and assisting patients as needed.
