This position is located in the Fiscal Service, Budget Section at the Orlando VA Medical Center. The primary purpose of this position is to perform tasks in interpreting and carrying out the administrative phases of budget and data validation programs. Under the direction of the Budget Supervisor, employee performs work in direct support of budget operation and data validation.
Duties
Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following:
Performs clerical and technical work in support of budget analysis and administration when such work requires primarily knowledge of the procedures that facilitate budgeting as conducted in the VA system.
Provides technical assistance to the Budget Team by independently assisting in accumulation, assembly, and review of statistical data for completeness and accuracy.
Incumbent may have to utilize existing automated systems to integrate cost data with clinical workload information, e.g., the incumbent is responsible for downloading bi-weekly payroll data from the Austin Computer Program system and transferring this information to a relational database.
Assumes responsibility for obtaining knowledge and skill necessary to maintain currency in this position.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours a week, Monday thru Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/06/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: For a GS-07position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized may include but are not limited to: Performs clerical and technical work in support of budget analysists; Processes a wide range of budgetary transactions and balancing accounts, verifies data and dollar amounts and adjusts discrepancies; Manages budget processes in the Financial Management System (FMS); Provides excellent communication, networking, and organizational skills; and compiles and summarizes information from various financial records (accounts receivables, cost reports, etc.) and prepares various budget reports:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is normally of a sedentary nature, although the employee may occasionally carry light items such as books, files, and reports from one office to another. Typically, the work is performed while comfortable seated at a desk or table. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
