Duties
As a Special Assistant, you will:
Prepares special papers, reports, memoranda, briefing packages, etc., with specific directions from the Assistant Secretary, GDAS and/or DAS. Assists the Assistant Secretary, GDAS and/or DAS in preparing speeches and drafts articles regarding Office programs.
Acts as "trouble shooter" on specific projects requested by the Assistant Secretary, GDAS and/or the DAS.
Plans and organizes conferences and meetings of particular importance to the Assistant Secretary, GDAS and/or DAS. Prepares and researches material for meetings. Follows up for the Assistant Secretary, GDAS and/or DAS on agreements reached in such meetings.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Overseeing projects and providing progress reports to management or high level officials; AND
Delivering briefings to senior level staff or officials for the purpose of conveying sensitive information; AND
Analyzing issues/problems, developing strategies and presenting these solutions to senior management or high level officials.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
