The incumbent ensures the safe, reliable, efficient, and effective function of medical equipment, instruments, devices and systems used for therapeutic and diagnostic patient care and treatment in the Medical Center and its associated clinics.

Duties

Ensures the safe, reliable, efficient, and effective function of medical equipment, instruments, devices, and systems. Prepares instructional material and conducts training in the procedures, techniques, and methods of operating, testing, and calibrating medical systems. Track equipment data, document repairs, open and close work orders. Troubleshoots repairs, calibrates, and maintains highly complex medical systems. Troubleshoots and resolves complex relationships between electrical, electronic, mechanical, physical, and chemical components of equipment and systems on a routine and emergent basis. Recommends replacement of devices and systems based on repair history, cost, down time, and user needs as required. Technical support provided includes preventive maintenance inspections, maintenance. and repair, calibration, installation, modification, and user training. Performs duties that require him/her to analyze, diagnose, develop, and plan systems in a broad scope and complexity. Performs technical inspection and coordinates installation of new medical instruments and systems including upgrades of existing systems with minimal disruption to operations. Performs and documents preventive maintenance inspections to ensure safe, proper, and reliable operations of instruments and devices. Assures operational safety on instruments and equipment in accordance with priorities established by the supervisor. Serves as technical advisor and consultant to clinical staff in the purchase of new equipment. Generate parts requests, track, and maintain scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance, and maintain all other required documentation and maintenance actions. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 07:30 am-4:00 pm. Subject to change based on the need of the agency. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Performance of the incumbent's duties can be physically demanding involving walking, sitting, some standing, working in cramped and awkward positions for prolonged periods of time, performance of precise procedures requiring good hand-eye coordination, and long periods of intense concentration. Lifting of objects between 10 and 40 pounds is common, and on occasion lifting of objects heavier than 40 pounds is necessary. Trips to satellite outpatient clinics are sometimes necessary and will involve transportation via station vehicle.
