This position directly supports the administrative functions of the Mental Health Service program staff. The incumbent coordinates with the team by performing office support tasks, coordinating communication between Veterans, families and VA and community healthcare services as warranted.

Duties

Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the Mental Health Service programs and other areas as assigned by Mental Health Service leadership. Duties include but are not limited to: Uses software applications to draw information from the computer database systems, and/or other data sources to prepare/assist in preparation of reports. Researches various publications to extract, summarize, and compile information required to support the current data in the acquisition, development, and/or scheduling of program resource materials and personnel, such as hard copy and computer-based brochures and reports. Maintains written records, reports, publications and establishes administrative controls in an accurate and complete manner. Serves as a point of contact for resolving administrative problems, Veterans complaints and professional inquiries (Patient Advocate/Congressional/Veteran Service Organizations) while consistently presenting a professional, courteous image. Trends and tracks quarterly workload to identify utilization trends, possible cost savings and preventative inpatient admissions. Assists in the planning, review, and reporting of data/statistical results of program/project studies; establishes protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets, and retrieves computerized data. Independently maintains ongoing records of fund control point activity in the various Mental Health Service Fund Control Points. Maintains financial accounting for the Mental Health Service as needed, following established internal procedures. Responsible for the execution of all purchases. Acts as confidential assistant, liaison person and participant in the management of the office. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/06/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Compiles statistical data for programs and prepares data driven reports. Prepares written correspondence that meets national standards. Procures all needed supplies and equipment and maintains fund control point activity. Manages employee time and attendance in provided system. Routes incoming phone calls to appropriate staff. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: This work involves some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of some light items. The work requires the incumbent to be able to move comfortably around the office and when necessary other locations. The work involves a considerable amount of time gathering and recording data.
