About the Position: Advanced In-Hire may be authorized. Advanced Leave Accrual may be authorized. Student Loan Repayment may be authorized. This position will be filled on a permanent basis. This position will be filled at the GS-13 or GS-14 level. If selected at the GS-13 level, noncompetitive promotion to the full performance GS-14 is authorized.

Duties

Determines relationships of TRICARE reimbursement program policies and principles to those present in other government and private health care programs. Interacts with other Federal Health Insurance Agencies Medicare and Medicaid. Conducts research, review and analysis on problems and highly complex issues of provider reimbursement. Consult with the managed care contractors on program reimbursement principles, policies, regulations and instructions. Develops and coordinates the completion of the Regulation, the TRICARE Policy/Reimbursement/Operations/Systems Manuals, and news releases. Develops new provider reimbursement methodologies for the TRICARE program, and updates and maintains existing reimbursement methodologies. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Specialized experience for the GS-14 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes leading projects to assist with the development of policy in support of a large public or private health care organization's mission; resolving complex issues related to health care provider payment using quantitative methods, informed by a thorough understanding of health care economics and the U.S. health care system; and utilizing exceptional writing and oral presentation skills to explain complicated health care policy concepts and research findings in a concise manner to diverse audiences, for example, Senior Department leads or Congressional staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
