About the Position: Serves as a Motor Vehicle Operator for the U.S. Army Soldier Recovery Unit under the general supervision of the Warrior Transition Unit (WTU) First Seargeant and Commander, Guthrie Ambulatory Health Clinic, located at Fort Drum, NY, home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry).
A recruitment/relocation/retention incentive and salary negotiation will not be available.
This is for a TERM position not to exceed 2 years.
Duties
Transport authorized personnel, materials, and/or equipment in connection with official government business.
Picks up and delivers packages and supplies and signs or obtains signature on receipts as required.
Loads and unloads cargo utilizing a hand truck or motorized lift if necessary.
Operate pickup and other type light-duty trucks, up to and including 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight.
Makes minor emergency repairs and prepares written trip reports showing mileage, gasoline purchases, etc.
Assists the Department of Army Police Force as directed within the scope of the incumbent's duties.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted state driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain within 6 months of employment and then maintain a government driver's license.
- Must maintain the ability to drive in adverse and dark conditions safely.
- This position is subject to random drug testing.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
- This is a Term position not to exceed two years.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties such as starting, stopping, backing, and driving a vehicle in all types of traffic and road conditions. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Drivers at this grade level exert light physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. They exert moderate physical effort in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds), and the occasional handling of heavier objects while loading cargo, with the assistance of other workers or weight handling equipment. Moderate physical effort may be required in making couplings between the vehicle and towed equipment because safety chains, towbars, and hooks must be lifted and properly secured. Considerable physical effort may be required to change tires and make limited emergency repairs, such as installing an emergency fan belt or replacing an electrical fuse on open highways.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Drivers work mostly outside and operate vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads (or the equivalent),and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents. They drive in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems. Drivers are exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle.
