This position is located in the Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (CBIIT), National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Duties
Lead the development of software, databases, and portals that process, store, or serve biomedical data.
Provide advanced expertise in biomedical informatics research to lead and oversee projects for the development of biomedical informatics solutions that support cancer research programs and initiatives.
Advise management on the status of software technologies and recommends new and/or different technical direction for new core infrastructure and software requirements, programs, and products.
Provide authoritative advice in the translation of scientific, patient privacy, safety, regulatory and administrative requirements of NCI programs into new software requirements.
Conduct research and development in the area of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and data science.
Collaborate with individuals who are trained in a wide variety of scientific disciplines, including genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, systems biology, model organism studies and other elements of basic science.

Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirement: In order to meet the Basic Requirements for a Biomedical Informatics Project Manager, GS-0601, you must possess a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences, or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
In addition to meeting the Minimum Education Requirement, you must meet the following Qualification Requirement:
In addition to meeting the Basic Qualifications, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: managing biomedical informatics programs to support biomedical or cancer research programs; translating scientific and program requirements into biomedical informatics requirements; providing guidance to scientific staff on biomedical informatics; managing projects for the development of biomedical informatics; developing software and platforms for processing, storing, and retrieving biomedical research data; and coordinating and collaborating with scientific, technical, program staff, and other organizations to provide guidance and information on biomedical informatics programs and projects.
