About the Position: Position is rotational, but primarily resides at the Main Pharmacy at the Hospital. Hours of work are typically 0730-1630 with an hour lunch. Working environment is the Main Outpatient Pharmacy with occasional rotations to the pharmacies at Byrd, LaPointe, or Town Center. Weekend rotation to cover at Town Center occurs approximately once a month with hours of 0800-1600 on Saturday.

Duties
Receive and review prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals to include controlled drugs on the formulary.
Perform final check on refilled prescriptions.
Provide information to patients on proper use of medications.
Plan and revise work schedules and assignments to assure an even flow and distribution of work.
Consult with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires heavy lifting up to 20 pounds.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- Temporary duty travel (TDY) of 5 % may be required.
- Position has been designated Mission and Weather Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report/remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position may require the incumbent to complete a one-year supervisory probationary period.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
- This position may require rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Pharmacy Technician:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes filling prescriptions, ordering pharmaceuticals, and overseeing personnel in a pharmaceutical setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
