Duties

Perform computer systems security support functions to protect and provide appropriate access to sensitive patient and research information. Create user accounts, allocates drive space, and establishes drive connections. Diagnose and resolve user related issues at both the Tier I and Tier II level. Set up and maintain system account restrictions and user rights. Ensure password controls and procedures are followed.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• Selectees may be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 70 pounds is required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (Information Security): Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes troubleshooting end user calls/requests related to office automation systems, software, and hardware issues in an enterprise or helpdesk environment; applying appropriate security system measures and procedures at user level; and installing and updating hardware and software components. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, two full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
