The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the installation Diversity Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) principal advisor reporting to the 354 Fighter Wing Vice Commander performing a range of functions to facilitate and support the achievement of the Installation/Wing Diversity and Inclusion mission.

Duties

Serves as the primary Diversity Equity Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) advisor to senior leadership. Develops Diversity and Inclusion goals and objectives to measure performance and outcomes in a manner that prompts visionary adaptation of programs, plans and initiatives. Implements Diversity and Inclusion educational and training courses, and workshops to enhance a culture of Diversity and Inclusion within the AF. Represents Wing on boards, task groups, and teams reviewing and implementing DoD-wide, Department of the Air Force Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/ vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours
  • A recruitment and relocation incentive may be paid
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing
  • Eligible for a Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) which is subject to change without notice

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) planning, scheduling, and conducting projects and studies including gathering, assembling, and analyzing facts; drawing conclusions; (2) adapting analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program effectiveness and/or organizational productivity; (3) creating a community of inclusion, building and executing a diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion strategy that will positively and measurably affect the culture, team, and employee experience in the installation; (4) maintaining and fostering an environment where leaders at all levels of the Air Force are aware of and understand the impact of DEIA on national security. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time--in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of strategic planning and change management analysis for assessing and improving diversity programs, policies, and outreach. 2. Knowledge of USAF goals and objectives in developing and maintaining a Diversity and Inclusion culture. 3. Ability to analyze, plan, and synchronize efforts of various organizations to achieve the USAF Diversity Mission. 4. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and gain cooperation and collaboration from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
