Duties

You will serve as a counselor for personal and work-related concerns within the organization's program standards. You will maintain records in accordance with state and federal regulations and prepare internal required metrics and reports. You will establish and maintain an up-to-date directory of community resources for referral purposes. You will be able to clinically assess suicide risk and execute crisis response based on clinical standards. You will be required to conduct needs assessment to develop and present mental health and wellness training curriculum to a wide range of audiences. You will be required to partner and work collaboratively with another social worker to promote and administer the Command Counseling Program. You will develop close working relationships with internal organizations to create and present tailored workshops and trainings to help with identified needs.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements (see Education), your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying professional judgment and social work skills to provide counseling services and working collaboratively with other social workers and employees within the command to administer a successful Command Counseling Program. Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Master's degree with practicum: Applicants who complete all of the requirements for a master's degree in social work that included a practicum are eligible for GS-9.

Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the qualification requirements if the applicant can provide documentation indicating that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
