THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION. THE DUTY LOCATION FOR THIS POSITION IS SEATTLE, WA. About the Position: Serves as an Economist in the Seattle District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and completing economic studies and evaluations pertaining to civil project functional areas.

Duties

Prepares economic reports or economic appendices for incorporation into general feasibility documents. Plans assistance to local jurisdictions, states, and other Federal agencies in the capacity of performing economic evaluations for water resource related issues. Coordinates and works with other agencies concerning project funding, state infrastructure programs and promoting Corps of Engineers expertise and authorities. Selects methods, techniques, and procedures for evaluating and resolving economic issues dependent on study/project needs. Conducts extensive literature research of publications by government agencies, private organizations, and individuals to keep updated on economic theory and economic changes and projections affecting a region.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Economist: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in economics that includes 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning and preparing quantitative analysis of data to include locating and collecting requisite data, analyzing and interpreting pertinent information, drawing conclusions, and presenting findings and recommendations for action. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: CommunicationsData AnalysisDecision SupportEconomics Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education
