This position is located in Department of Homeland, U.S. Coast Guard, Sector New York, Engineering Division - Utilities Shop, Staten Island, NY.
Duties
The purpose of this position is to perform preventive and corrective maintenance and completing job orders utilizing the basic building/construction trades (electrical, plumbing, and HVAC).Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:Leader: - Articulating and communicating work assignments, actionable events, milestones, and/or issues under review and deadlines and time frames for completion.- Identifying, distributing and valancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level, and/or occupational specialty.- Monitoring and reporting on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to see that the established instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines, and quality have been met.Electrical: Installing, modifying, repairing, trouble shooting (tracing and locating defects), loading and testing new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, electrical wiring, controls and equipment.Plumbing: Installing, modifying and repairing new and existing utility supply and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil and underground water distribution mains and systems, water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and sewage disposal stations.HVAC: Repairing heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems in residential and commercial units, small and domestic heating units and systems, hot air furnaces, low-pressure hot water and stead boilers, refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation systems, controls and circulators.Equipment Operations: Performing portable and fixed generator operations.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- The position requires a valid state driver's license.
- Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
