The Credentialing Specialist is assigned to the Credentialing and Privileging Office, which is under the Chief of Staff at the Western New York VAMC in Buffalo, NY and is responsible for providing administrative and technical direction and support to the credentialing operations. The Credentialing Specialist is aligned to and supervised by the Credentialing and Privileging (C&P) Manager.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Monitoring, for compliance and timely update, of expiration of time-limited credentials. Serving as subject matter expert (SME) in the field of credentialing. Receiving and reviews VetPro reports detecting problem areas requiring further investigation. Managing provider applications (initial) for Non-LIPs credentialing within the VAMC. Assuring application packages and other documents meet technical requirements per specialty of provider and assures application folder and database account (VetPro or other internal databases and spreadsheets) meet technical requirements. Determining processes for coordination of incoming data and documents from a variety of sources. Analyzing and managing issues related to documents that do not meet expected requirements, regulations or guidelines such as adverse actions against licensures, certifications, and NPDB) CQ reports. Conducting final appointment into the VetPro database, after thoroughly researching, analyzing and validating all data, information, documents and signature authorities. Developing and providing routine and special reports as requested by the C&P manager/Analyst. Possessing a credit card and is responsible for maintaining records, reconciling monthly charge statements and verifying legitimacy of requests for NPDB Single and CQ enrollments/ renewals, licensure verification (if applicable), National Student Clearing House, Work Number and certifications (if applicable). Reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies with Fiscal Service. Performing other credentialing duties as assigned. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-07grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Verifying of information in health care provider files; Maintaining confidentiality of information in accordance with the Privacy Act; Provides quality control checks on data; managing multiple projects and priorities and meets deadlines; using software applications such as word processing and data bases and internet database applications for data entry, file maintenance and data retrieval; and researching reference materials, regulations, and standards to identify appropriate action necessary to correct problems or issues. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary. Occasionally, light physical effort may be required, such as that involved with walking, stair climbing, and carrying of light office items. The work is performed in an office setting which require normal safety precautions typical for offices and meeting rooms. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Note: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, series and grades for all federal positions held, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hour worked per week. Education
