This position is being filled under the OPM Government-Wide Direct Hire Authority for Certain STEM Positions. The incumbent will serve as the regions' Transmission Vegetation Program Manager and Advisor and is aligned directly under the Natural Resources Division Manager. This is not a remote position. The selectee will be required to be physically present at the Phoenix, AZ duty location.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A. Bachelor's or higher degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. -OR- B. A combination of education and experience that includes courses equivalent to a major in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, PLUS appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is performing two (2) of the three (3) following items: Assisting with field experience in biological, range science, ecological, or natural resources Managing/Assisting on contracts in vegetation management or natural resources Experience with cost estimates and budgeting to develop annual plans specific to vegetation management "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
