This position supports WAPA-SNR-Sierra Nevada Region. As a Environmental Protection Specialist (Compliance), you will perform environmental protection activities. Principal duties include identifying regulatory requirements and matching them to WAPA program activities to ensure WAPA is in compliance with applicable environmental regulations.
**This is not a remote position. The selectee will be required to be physically present at the Folsom, CA duty location.*

Qualifications
Specialized Experience Requirements: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level:
For the GS-11: Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in 3 of the 4 items listed below. This experience must be clearly documented in your resume:
Implementing and interpreting environmental laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to review and evaluate complex and sensitive environmental issues, programs, and proposed projects.
Identifying and classifying wastes to determine hazards, handling, and shipping requirements.
Developing and implementing procedures related to environmental compliance.
Conducting field assessments and collecting data on findings for preparation and submission of reports.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related; your education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

Combination of education and experience as described above.
For the GS-12: Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in 4 of the 5 items listed below. This experience must be clearly documented in your resume:
Implementing and interpreting environmental laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to review and evaluate complex and sensitive environmental issues, programs, and proposed projects.
Providing technical guidance on environmental policy and guidance to assure compliance and awareness.
Identifying and classifying wastes to determine hazards, handling, and shipping requirements.
Developing and implementing procedures related to environmental compliance.
Conducting field assessments and collecting data on findings for preparation and submission of reports.
"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
