Duties
Serve as a Journeyman electrician to install and repair a variety of electrical systems.
Repair a wide variety of electrical equipment.
Apply electrical theory and principles to complete repair and installation of electrical systems.
Plan the layout of electrical wiring using blueprints, sketches and/or general instructions.
Splice wires to connect fixtures, outlets, switches and receptacles to power source.
Follow wiring diagrams to install electrical circuits.
Use tools such as voltmeter, ampmeter, ohmmeter to test electrical circuits and equipment.
Test old circuits to see if faulty condition is corrected after repairs.
Troubleshoot electrical problems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the employee to pass a Criminal History Background Check.
- Position requires a pre-employment Physical Examination and screening for tuberculosis (TB) and an annual examination and TB Test thereafter.
- The maximum entry age for positions covered under the special Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) retirement is 37 years old.
- Individuals must be appointed by the last day of the month in which the individual becomes age 37. Individuals who are past the maximum
entry age limit, but previously served in a primary position, may be reinstated.
- This position is designated as a Primary LEO and the work requires frequent, direct contact in the detention of inmates convicted of offenses
against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
- Regularly-assigned contacts with inmates expose the incumbent to daily stress and the threat of potentially dangerous situations such as verbal and/or physical attack by the inmate population.
- Department of Defense Instruction, Number 1325.7 states all confinement facility personnel shall possess a high degree of maturity and
emotional stability.
- All confinement facility personnel shall have no civilian felony convictions or court-martial convictions for any offense with a maximum
authorized sentence to confinement of over one year.
- Section 639 of Public Law 106-554 requires agencies to remove law enforcement officers from employment as law enforcement officers if they are convicted of a felony.
- IAW The Prison Rape Elimination Act, the MCC may not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, has engaged in sexual
abuse in a prison, jail, lockup community conferment facility, juvenile facility, or other institution.
- The incumbent of this position will comply with all provisions of the 15th MP BDE Regulation 190-3, Rules of Conduct and ACC Policy Letter #17, Standards of Conduct.
- This position requires the employee to complete the Army Corrections Command Pre-Service Training program to maintain security and control of inmates, appropriate staff/inmate interaction and understanding the rules of inmate conduct.
- All Army Corrections Command employees are required to take 40 hours of training annually in inmate supervision and security as well as
training in their field.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the
incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- The incumbent is subject to call during off-duty hours, to include weekends and holidays, for emergency repairs.
- This position requires the employee to work on ladders and scaffolds and frequently involves working in uncomfortable or awkward
positions. This position has a requirement to lift up to 75 lbs.
- This position works inside buildings and shops as well as outside. Incumbent is subject to contact with dirt and soiling of hands and
clothing, to shocks and burns from voltages up to 600 volts, and cuts and bruises
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S.
states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- The work is performed in a correctional institution where the employee must be prepared to defend oneself, or others, against physical attack at all times.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electrician without more than normal supervision. Install, repair, and modify new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems and fixtures. Overhaul, repair and maintain a variety of electrical devices and equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
This position has been designated as a primary/rigorous and is eligible for Law Enforcement (LEO) retirement coverage under the provisions of title 5 USC 8336(c) and 8412(d) by DoD memorandum dated 19-Aug-2010. The maximum entry age for positions covered under this retirement is 37 years old. Retirement from this position is mandatory at age 57 with 20 years of LEO service. The maximum entry age may be waived under certain circumstances. Individuals who are past the maximum entry age limit, but previously served in a primary position, MAY be reinstated.

This requires the employee to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
