This position is part of the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Ensuring that all employees are paid according to their entitlement, deductions are corrected, leave is recorded accurately, and labor is correctly charged.
Analyzing computer generated printouts for rejects and missing hours to correct errors on-line by specified deadlines.
Maintaining Time and Attendance certification ensuring that each employee's record is certified.
Planning, coordinating, reviewing, and correcting functions pertaining to Civilian Pay and travel.
Researching, analyzing, and resolving pay and leave problems.
Acting as a liaison among employees, managers, timekeepers, supervisors, Supervisory Payroll Managers and the National Finance Center (NFC).
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is Required.
- Selectee must successfully pass pre-employment prior to appointment.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Suitability Clearance.
- Selectee must successfully pass pre-employment prior to appointment.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Civilian Pay Technician PG-07, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-06 grade level in the Federal Service that include but are not limited to:
Processing payroll, time and attendance, utilizing automated pay systems to reconcile errors, and provide accurate information and assistance.
To qualify for the Civilian Pay Technician PG-08, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-07 grade level in the Federal Service that include but are not limited to:
Processing payroll, time and attendance, tax withholding, and retirement; processing various payroll related reports; utilizing automated pay systems to reconcile errors, and provide accurate information and assistance; and operating a personal computer with a variety of software.
To qualify for the Civilian Pay Technician PG-09, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-08 grade level in the Federal Service that include but are not limited to:
Processing payroll, time and attendance, tax withholding, and retirement; utilizing a variety of interrelated steps, conditions, and processes to assemble, review, and maintain a variety of complex pay transactions; processing various payroll related reports; resolving timekeeping, leave (paid time off), and benefit issues. Prefer experience utilizing automated pay systems to reconcile errors with NFC applications such as Epicweb, SPPSweb, EmpowHR, NFC Mainframe, Insight, or Reporting Center, and provide accurate information and assistance.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
