Duties
This position is assigned as a Utility System Operator of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. This position performs a variety of tasks associated with the maintenance and repair of historic and non-historic structures throughout the park. Incumbent will have passed both the Waste Water test and Water test and have a status of "Operator in Training" (OIT) per Ohio EPA standards or equivalent testing from another state at the time of entry on duty. OIT candidates will receive on the job training for this position and will have up to 12 months to successfully gain a Class A license in both Waste Water and Water. Employee is required to obtain an Ohio EPA Class A license for both Waste Water and Water within 12 months of accepting permanent position.
This position will work the weekend shift.
Position will be responsible for monitoring EPA permits on wastewater and drinking water systems. Position will work very closely with existing USO personal and other trades.
Employee provides significant input to supervisor on performance and training needs for employees. Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed, and tools and equipment are used properly. The employee oversees all building and utilities work including planning projects, general upkeep and ordering supplies and materials. Assists Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor in planning and estimating time and material for projects. Employee is required to maintain up to date knowledge of lift stations, electrical, plumbing, water treatment and wastewater treatment. Assist in planning and implementing the job safety program for the building and utilities unit and the park. Employee will work in the field with the employees that they lead. Will serve as Project Inspector on construction contracts. Employee will use basic computer skills daily, such as Word Processing; Internet based communication and training; and Internet based Facility Management i.e., the Facility Management Software System (FMSS). Employee will perform FMSS data collection and input.
