About the Position: Shared office with one other individual. Duty hours 0500-1330 Monday - Friday. You will sharpen/develop skills in Quality Assurance inspections for hospital housekeeping, Document Destruction requirements, Regulated Medical Waste policies and requirements, Linen and Laundry policies and Transportation. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Serve as the Assistant Hospital Housekeeping Officer primarily responsible for advising, supervising, and performing work involving the development, coordination, direction and management of effective hospital housekeeping programs. Conduct daily Hospital Housekeeping Quality Assurance inspections. Perform Document Destruction responsibilities. Adhere to regulated Medical Waste input/policies and procedures, Transportation dispatch requirements and annotation, and Laundry and Linen policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The incumbent must submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, upon entering this position and annually thereafter.
  • This is an inclement weather position. In the event of severe weather conditions, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position is designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Up to 5% Business travel may be required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Position requires an irregular tour of duty.
  • The incumbent must obtain and maintain the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) certification within 6 months of employment.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • The incumbent must obtain and maintain Transport of Biomedical Material certification within six months of employment.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: hospital housekeeping services and cleanliness requirements; contractual performance requirements related to service contract quality problems; preparing deficiency reports; and/or regulatory requirements for hospital medical waste/medical waste disposal procedures (collection, transportation, destruction requirements). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related, in an accredited college or university which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position; Public Health or Business Administration with emphasis in Hospital Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
