This position is located within the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO) with one vacancy in Wallops Island, VA. Duties

As a Lead Electronics Technician, you will perform the following duties: Serve as lead technician in the operation of one or multiple sites to gather data, distribute and balance team workload, track the progress of work and makes necessary day-today adjustments to provide on-the job training to new employees, resolve informal complaints of employees and provide supervisors with requested information concerning performance inputs and personnel actions. Manage satellite systems maintenance engineering services of plans, acquire, document, test, implement, integrate, maintain, or modify electronic systems to develop, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and test highly specialized electronic systems. Plan and devise tests for electronic systems, noting deficiencies, failures, or recurring malfunctions. Modify equipment and instrumentation to meet specialized requirements, evaluate equipment being tested, and review electronic circuitry in sensors, receivers, and analyzers to understand test requirements, and develop and implement instructional guidance for test instrumentation setup, operation procedures, and other necessary information. Oversee regression testing and development of system upgrades and replacements to provide guidance and technical input for system upgrades and report to the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) through oral/written reports and presentation, provide oversight, report on the progress of installations and perform acceptance tests to ensure deliverables are complete.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the ZT-4 or GS-11: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZT-3 or GS-10 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following: Implementing, modifying, troubleshooting, and testing electronic satellite systems and equipment; Analyzing circuitry to evaluate electronic systems and equipment; and Providing technical guidance on the maintenance and operation of electronic satellite systems. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position requires the operation of a Federal motor vehicle. Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid state driver's license to operate a government vehicle in completion of assigned tasks.
