About the Position: Serves as a Public Affairs Specialist in the U.S. Recruiting Command - Portland Advertising and Public Affairs office. Assists in the execution of advertising, promotional, outreach, and public affairs activities within the Battalion area of responsibility. Produces multimedia content to support the command information program. Assists with media relations, outreach and promotional activities in the Battalion area.

Duties

Manage and oversee quarterly APA operating budget, reporting status to teammates. Manage projects and events from inception through execution. Assist in the execution of advertising, promotional, outreach, and public affairs activities. Produce multimedia content to support the command information program. Assist with media relations, responding to media queries, developing talking points, and notifying chain of command of media queries. Write news and feature articles for internal and external publications, and social media. Photograph subjects to support news releases, articles, and social media. Coordinate assets to support promotional events.

Requirements

GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating promotional events for an organization and writing publication material such as news and feature articles for internal organization, social media, and other communication channels. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). -OR- Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Relations or Mass Communications. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
