You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS MECHANIC in the Communication-Electronics Office, Telephone Branch, Outside Plant Section of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will maintain, repair, test, modify, install, and relocate telephone, teletype and radio remote circuits and associated equipment. You will plan and lay out complex installations, including the cable run diagrams, prints, and key system work sheets to allow completion of assigned tasks, from the inception stage to completion. You will Install new equipment by using specifications, drawings, and guidelines set forth by various manufacturers. You will perform visual examination and electrical testing to identify and correct malfunctions.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including diagnosing telecommunication malfunctions through visual examination and electrical testing. Working under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
