About the Position: Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA) mission statement: To receive, store, ship, produce, renovate and demilitarize conventional ammunition, missiles and related components to meet contingency requirements in support of the warfighter. This is a permanent position.

Duties

Perform welding processes, which require setup and programming of robotic and electron beam welders. Operate computer/numerically controlled welding equipment. Develop tapes/programs for production welding processes. Repair and fabricate all types of metal and alloy parts and equipment using electric, gas, inert shielded-gas and robotic welding processes.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires you to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment and annual physical examination.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License/Installation driving privileges.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentDexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MetalsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and crawling that may be done in awkward and cramped positions. Frequently handles objects weighing from 20 to 40 pounds in setting up work and equipment and in completing assignments. Incumbent seeks assistance from coworkers, operates lifts, or overhead hoist for items in excess of 40 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is done indoors and outdoors, sometimes in bad weather; in areas that are noisy, dirty, and smokey. Welding involves exposure to fumes; infrared and ultraviolet radiation; heat and flying sparks; the glare of torches and heated materials; the possibility of eye injury, electrical shock, burns, and broken bones; and the chance of cuts when working with sharp objects. The majority of work is performed on concrete floors or as required on or in equipment being repaired. Subject to contamination from unusually hazardous agents and to potential explosions while welding equipment in designated hazard areas or locations.
