You will serve as a Firefighter in the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.

Duties

You will respond to all medical emergencies and provide for the rescue and on scene stabilization for victims of fire, sudden illness, accidental injuries, childbirth, and other events requiring medical personnel. You will respond to all structure fires, operate fire hydrants, deploy fire hose lines, perform ladder operations, operate fire nozzles, and other fire extinguishing equipment to effect fire suppression. You will perform emergency communications duties. You will respond to all hazardous materials incidents as required. You will participate in all drills and classroom training to maintain level of proficiency to perform required duties.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You must possess a current American Heart Association certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Failure to provide this with your application will result in an automatic disqualification and you will not be referred to the hiring manager.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain United States Forest Service Wildland Firefighter Red Card certification within one year from date of employment.
  • You must possess a current State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Life Support (NREMT-B) certification.
  • You must possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license. NOTE: failure to provide this with your application will result in an automatic disqualification and you will not be referred to the hiring manager.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Required to work a seventy-two (72) hour work week and is subject to overtime and recall during off duty hours.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1. Responding to all medical emergencies and providing rescue and on scene stabilization for victims of fire, sudden illness, accidental injuries, childbirth, and other events requiring medical personnel; 2. Responding to all hazardous materials incidents as required; 3. Participating in all drills and classroom trainings to maintain a level of proficiency to perform required duties; AND 4. Participating in a directed physical fitness program within prescribed guidelines under supervision of work leader GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1. Assisting in on-site chemical identification using portable chemical identification kits; 2. Ensuring documentation of observations, noting power, water, gas shutoffs, hazardous storage and other potential hazards inside and outside structures; 3. Participating in all drills and classroom training to maintain a level of proficiency to perform required duties; 4. Carrying out evacuation drills, resetting sprinklers and other local alarm systems; AND 5. Inspecting major occupancies during peak hours of operation making sure fire regulations are being adhered. Education

In lieu of experience at the GS-05 level, applicants may qualify with the following education substitute:
GS-05:


Successfully completed a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university with major study in Fire Science, Fire Training, or related fields of study.

OR

Possess a combination of specialized experience and education that equates to one year of experience.
