You will serve as an Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist in the Training Systems Research Development Test and
Evaluation (RDT&E) Department of NAWCTSD ORLANDO.
Duties
You will be responsible for conducting studies and exploratory projects to identify solutions to specific critical problems.
You will be responsible for the preparation of acquisition items – i.e. specifications and statements of work.
You will conduct research for informing consistent requirements across programs.
You will perform tests to ensure requirements are satisfied, and perform analysis of models, systems, and algorithms.
You will provide oversight of software audits and software installation procedures.
You will develop engineering models and simulations using models.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of an Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist. Specialized experiences must include duties related to the following: 1) Assisting with preparing requirements for specifications and presenting technical information to peers and supervisors; 2) Supporting projects related to research for informing consistent requirements across programs, software audits, and software installations; 3) Conducting studies and exploratory projects to identify solutions to specific critical problems; (4) Developing engineering models and simulations utilizing Systems Modeling Language (SysML) or Unified Modeling language (UML); and (5) Performing work related to analysis of models, systems, and algorithms.

08XX Series:
Successful completion of a degree in Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR
A combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
1550 Series:
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science
OR
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
