This position is located in the Dietetics Branch of the Kayenta Service Unit (KSU), Kayenta, AZ. The purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate, administer and evaluate a comprehensive Nutrition and Dietetics program in the Kayenta Service Unit, and community. Incumbent reports to the Clinical Director and/or designee.
Duties

Assesses, plans, schedules, coordinates and reviews the functions of the branch, including budget, menu planning, purchasing specifications, requisitioning, food production and service, infection control, safety and sanitation, space utilization, equipment, and investigative studies in these areas for improving economy and efficiency of operations as well as the quality of service.
Develops, implements and revises employee performance standards, ensuring that they are consistent with the duties and responsibilities contained in position descriptions.
Implements and maintains significant provisions of personnel management procedures, including grievance procedures and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) complaints.
Develops, implements, monitors and revises effective quality assurance program which will evaluate quality, appropriateness and effectiveness of nutritional care provided.
Establishes and administers the Dietetics Branch of the hospital involving direction and coordination of the food service delivery system and nutritional education of inpatients, outpatients, and community members.
Develops short and long-term range department plans and programs consistent with departmental and organizational policies; coordinates programs with other departments, services, and agencies.
Prepares and recommends program budget, manages and controls expenditures of resources.
Develops, coordinates and implements the clinical dietetics component which includes nutritional management of a variety of chronic medical problems, management of food service functions, staff development, ambulatory care and community nutrition programs.
Evaluates dietary habits, food purchasing practices and food resources of the local tribal people or special groups; uses pertinent findings in planning relevant nutrition services.
Provides relief coverage for outpatient and clinical dietitian as necessary.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in the fields of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science. The educational program must have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For dietitian positions, the curriculum must have been in accordance with the qualifying requirements established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) (formerly America Dietetic Association) (ADA) prior to January 1, 2012) in effect at the time of graduation.
Completion of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by AND (formerly ADA) for dietitians or nutritionists.
Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
NOTE: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-12:Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating a comprehensive Nutrition and Dietetics Program including budget, menu planning, purchasing specifications, food production and service, infection control, safety and sanitation, space utilization, and equipment. Provide nutritional management of a variety of chronic medical problems, management of food service functions, staff development, ambulatory care and community nutrition programs. Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
