Duties
Coordinates with District Rangers and other leadership team Staff Officers to ensure natural resource program goals and objectives are thoroughly understood.
Monitors performance to ensure resource program goals and objectives are successfully achieved.
Conducts formal activity and management reviews as assigned and documents results and schedules accomplishment in accordance with established procedures. Provides reports of findings.
Responsible for program management, planning, budgeting and management information (PBMI) identifying work force and organizational needs, and Forest priorities.
Coordinates with other federal agencies for project efforts.
Reviews environmental analysis reports to determine regulatory compliance and adequacy of approved natural resources / biological plans.
Analyzes and determines the effects of management activities on natural resources and reviews environmental assessments findings
Reviews and approves all long- range and short- range program action plans to ensure consistency with strategies and program emphasis in approved forest plans.
Performs supervisory duties at least 25% of the time.
Requirements

Qualifications

Basic Requirement:
GS0401:
Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
GS-1301:
Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
or
Combination of education and experience: education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to the basic education requirement, you must also possess the specialized experience defined below.
Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-12: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the 11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following:
Provided guidance in the management of a recreation and non-recreation special uses, lands or energy related program;
Coordinated a program and plans with other resource management functions;
Provided recommendations on development and execution of a recreation and non-recreation special uses, lands or energy related program to ensure accomplishments were within applicable guidelines;
OR prepared short-range and long-range resource plans and ensured compliance with land management planning policies and regulations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
