About the Position: This position is located at Naval Hospital Bremerton. This position will spend most of their time working in the outpatient pharmacy setting including an offsite stand-alone dispensing location. The pharmacy is open 0730-1800 with a small crew working afterhours and on weekends/holidays to support the in-hospital urgent care.

Duties
Assist the pharmacist and performs a variety of complex technical functions to interpret, order, receive, store, and dispense pharmaceuticals including over the counter (OTC), investigational, legend non- controlled and legend controlled.
Communicate with patients, co-workers and/or providers about prescription needs, pass along information, and to answer questions.
Process, Fill and Deliver finalized prescriptions to patients or provider staff.
Package, label, and set-up prepared prescriptions for pharmacist review.
Establish and maintain manual and automated records.
Working in various environments according to rotating schedule to include; Drive-Thru Annex, Intake and Dispense Windows, Filling Stations, Call Center, and/or Vault.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance (Tier 3) or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Immunization screening is required.
- Travel (TDY) outside of the commuting area 5%.
- May require to work on any day or shift, including night, weekends, holidays, or on an “on call” basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
- Inclement Weather Essential-In the event of severe weather conditions.
- Must provide Pharmacy Technician License from US State or Territory prior Official Job Offer.
- Lifting less than 15 lbs Standing/Sitting/Squatting.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Education and/ or Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes filling prescriptions and utilizing pharmacy based computer systems gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories.
Successful completion of pertinent specialized training courses in pharmaceutical and pharmacy practices while serving in the Armed Forces is creditable on a month-for-month basis up to the 1 year of specialized experience required for GS-5.(Note: You must include proof of training completion with your application package in order to receive credit towards specialized experience.)

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-05: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses.
OR
Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-05: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
