About the Position: This position is located at Naval Medical Center in the Directorate for Administration, Nutrition Management, San Diego, CA. The incumbent serves as a Cook Supervisor II within the Nutrition Management Department with overall responsibility for production and service of approximately 4000 meals per day primarily for patients, and staff.

Duties

Organizes coordinate and assign personnel throughout the production and service areas of the department. Coordinate with the military watch captain. Coordinate menu production forecasts and ensure that the proper quantities of food and supplies have been ordered and available to subordinates for execution of the menu. Review food preparation and service in progress assuring that the quality and quantity of food being prepared and served is consistent with the menu and has high acceptance. Maintain strict control on timeliness of preparation to meet deadlines. Hold daily food production and service conference with key personnel to communicate current policies and procedures for menu execution, personnel assignments, and other information as delineated by the Head, Production and Service Division. Conduct periodic inspections for contraband and maintains security throughout the department. Perform employee personnel actions (timekeeping and payroll functions, approving and disapproving leave requests, evaluating performance, counseling employees). Participate in incentive awards program and recommending administrative disciplinary action. Assist with preparing high quality meals when directed in accordance with recipes or therapeutic diet requirements and assist with duties of any subordinate positions as needed.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • One year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
