About the Position: Functions as the Army Environmental Coordinator with the responsibility for implementation of the Army Environmental Protection and Enhancement program.
Duties
Interpret environmental laws and regulations determining applicability to the installation's mission.
Implement, administer and enforce the Environmental Compliance Program.
Improve and enhance environmental regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship through identifying, managing environmental requirements and development and execution of projects and programs.
Maintain and enhance the physical, biological and chemical integrity of the installation's natural and manmade environmental resources and ensures activities are consistent in social and economic concerns.
Serve as a senior technical advisor to the installation, Directorate and staff concerning all environmental management and regulatory compliance matters.
Exercise responsibility in dealing with officials of other organizations, assures adequacy of contractor capabilities; determines whether contractor performed work meets standards of adequacy necessary for authorization of payment.
Performs the full range of supervisory duties.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 10% of the time.
- Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 26345, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08). Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Basic Requirements: You must meet the basic requirements below and the specialized experience below.
To qualify based on your education, you must have a degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that includes 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that includes at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
You must also meet the specialized experience below:
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: improving and enhancing environmental regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship through identifying and managing environmental requirements and development and execution of projects and programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
