You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Operations and Administrative Division of Strategic Systems Programs Flight Systems (PMOSSP), Flight System (SPF), of PROGRAM MANAGEMENT OFFICE SSP.

Duties

You will serve as a recognized expert and senior adviser to develop and/or refine policy and procedures for security programs. You will design and conduct security operational surveys, reviews, inspections, exercises, and research projects and provide advisory services. You will organize, train, and resource the SSP Flight Systems and personnel to meet all identified security standards in order to safeguard persons, property, sensitive information, and strategic weapons within the commands areas of responsibilities. You will provide security guidance and support to employees and industrial contractors ensuring continued compliance with security policy standards. You will interpret and evaluate information and disclosure security policies to resolve problems and recommend alternative solutions. You will recommend innovative approaches to resolve problems and conflicts in existing security policy and program objectives. You will use regulations to establish and manage security programs pertaining to Personnel Security, Physical Security, Information Security, or other security related areas. You will conduct facility or infrastructures Physical Secuity inspections, vulnerability, threat, or risk assessments to verify the security of personnel, sensitive information, or equipment.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
  • This position has been designated as a Tier I Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) designated position.
  • Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) is required within 24 months of assuming the position and must be maintained through the entire length of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or NH-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing, implementing, and administering enterprise wide multidisciplinary (i.e. Personnel, Physical, Information, Industrial) security programs, policies, and procedures to correct deficiencies and mitigate risks for national warfare programs, systems and subsystems.
