Duties
The incumbent’s primary responsibility is to design, choreograph, and teach a variety of safe fitness classes focused on complementing combat readiness, transitional readiness, and mental preparation for the military community and authorized customers at MCAS Cherry Point. Additional responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to the following: Assist in performing housekeeping tasks to ensure proper appearance, cleanliness, and safety of assigned area. Ensures all safety procedures and regulations are observed by participants. Performs basic equipment inspections and reports broken equipment to supervisor. Provides support for scheduled Group Exercise classes, unit physical training, special events, and Semper Fit activities.

Qualifications
Certification in group exercise is required from an accredited organization American Council on Exercise (ACE), Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA), and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). CPR and First Aid certification is required, or ability to acquire CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of employment. Ability to develop, modify, and implement fitness classes in two or more training modalities is required (e.g., basic strength training, choreographed strength training, kickboxing, suspension training, circuit training, dance, yoga, cycle, muscle recovery, aquatic exercise, and myofascial release). Ability to teach indoor and outdoor classes. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Preferred Qualifications: One year of experience in fitness instruction in a group setting. Training and education in work place wellness and/or lifestyle behaviors. Holds 1 or more “specialty” certifications such as NCCPT Indoor Cycling, Strength & Conditioning, TRX, Kettlebell, Yoga Alliance, Barre, Pilates Method Alliance.
