This position is located in a State and/or Area Office in USDA/Rural Development (RD). The incumbent approves and services loans for small (one to four family) residential dwellings.
There is one vacancy that may be filled at any of the locations listed.
This is NOT a remote position. The incumbent must report for work at the listed duty location.
Duties
Works with loans and grants made or guaranteed by the government for very-low-, low- and moderate-income families in rural areas to purchase, build or repair single family residences.
Reviews loan applications for completeness and conformance with all RD requirements; analyzes and inputs data into appropriate automated database systems.
Prepares as applicable, conditional commitment, funding commitment and notification of loan closing, and certificate of eligibility and either approves or submits to, approving official.
Works closely with key business, civic and local government leaders and groups to jointly promote suitable housing and community development projects.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
For GS-09 Specialized Experience: Knowledge and understanding of mortgage loan making/servicing and credit principles and practices in order to assess the fundamental soundness of single-family housing loans and to independently examine applications, supporting documents, and credit reports, and maintain servicing activities on small mortgage loans. Experience may have been gained in work equivalent to furnishing information to borrowers and applicants on loan programs, eligibility requirements, financial and credit requirements; analyzing information provided by loan applicants, determining eligibility for mortgage loans, and making loan recommendations to a senior employee; assisting senior level employees in initiating action to graduate borrowers who are eligible for other credit sources; and participating in providing credit counseling to all borrowers and debt adjustment services OR possess a Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR an LL.B. or J.D., if related (see qualifying fields of study below) OR an equivalent combination of experience and education as noted above are acceptable.
