About the Position: This position is located with US Army Accession Command, USA 5th Recruiting Brigade, USA Recruiting Battalion Phoenix, Advertising/Public Affairs Division, Phoenix, AZ.

Duties

Coordinates Army participation at local community, center-of-influence (COI), Future Soldier, and other outreach events to promote Army opportunities and provide recruiters face-to-face interaction with the target market. Prepares and submits After-Action Reports assessing the success of promotional programs. Assists the Chief with media relations, responding to media queries, developing talking points, and notifying HQ USAREC PAO of media queries. Writes news and feature articles for internal Bn and HQs publications, social media and other Army publications/sites. Photographs subjects to support news releases, articles, and social media. Maintains battalion web sites and social media sites, ensuring compliance with USAREC and DA standards.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience writing news releases and feature articles for internal and external publications; writing advertising copy tailored to specific markets; skill in the use of computers and knowledge of desktop publishing methods; experience organizing a variety of promotional programs and events and establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with media vendors, news media representatives, and officials of various public and private organizations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Communications, Public Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsMessage DevelopmentPlanning and executionPublic Affairs Policies and Procedures Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
