About the Position: Serves as the Mission Safety and Occupational Health Manager for Fort Wainwright, Alaska, with responsibilities for planning, managing and administering a safety and occupational health program under the direction of the US Army Alaska (USARAK) Director of Safety.

Duties

Responsible for development, organization, execution, and assessment of the Tactical Safety Program. Assures proper accident notification and investigation procedures are followed. Establishes a schedule for and conducts compliance inspections and surveys of ranges, organizations, operations, facilities, and equipment to identify operational, facility, and systemic safety and health deficiencies. Develops lesson plans, support materials; lessons learned and risk management information for instructional use. Supervise the Fort Wainwright mission safety office staff.

Requirements

  • The position is designated as Emergency Essential. An emergency essential position is defined as a civilian position located overseas.
  • Incumbent must be able to qualify in personal chemical protection and use of any required personal protective gear.
  • Incumbent must possess and be able to maintain a valid state driver's license
  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a US government vehicle license within 30 days of hire
  • Incumbent may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or irregular duty hours
  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Incumbent must able to successfully pass a physical examination
  • May require temporary duty (TDY) to field conditions 15% of the time
  • Incumbent may be required to qualify with 9mm side arm and/or M4
  • The Military ACU/OCP is the duty uniform for field exercises and deployments. Will be issued standard TA50 for use per local requirements.
  • This position is covered by the 1998 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. 922). Persons convicted of misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
