About the Position: This is a permanent, full-time position for the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM) supporting the Buffalo, New York, Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).
Duties
Accounts for current and incoming inventory items.
Adheres to rules and guidelines while performing the duties of a Purchasing Agent.
Tracks the status of assets utilizing automated systems.
Independently evaluates the need for facility and equipment maintenance.
Advises and assists commander and staff members on all matters pertaining to motor vehicle management and maintenance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Must obtain Blood Borne Pathogen certification.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds and be capable of utilizing material handling equipment.
- You must have a valid state driver's license.
- Must be able to acquire and retain a government purchase card.
- Must maintain current Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) certification.
- Must be computer literate, but the duties do not require a qualified typist.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) maintaining an automated inventory system; 2) resolving issues with supply requests; 3) making purchases with a credit card; AND 4) overseeing motor vehicle management and maintenance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
