About the Position: Serve as Transportation Division Chief for the Army Field Support Battalion located on Fort Carson, Colorado.

Duties

Serves as the Transportation Division Chief responsible for oversight and coordination of the installation transportation program. Responsible for Coordinating all Transportation manpower support for the installation mission. Manage local manpower agreements for required Civilian, Military and Local National support. Directly responsible for appointing personnel to support responsibilities per the Defense Transportation Regulation; including but not limited to the Installation Transportation Officer, Unit Movement Coordinator, and Container Control Officer. Oversee the UMC and associated Deployment, Redeployment and Mobilization Operations to include the Departure/Arrival Airfield Control Group operations, containers and supporting Material handling Equipment. Oversee the Installation Transportation Officer, who administers day to day Service Operations including Personal Property Shipping Office/Processing Office (PPSO/PPPO, etc.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is designated as a “Key” position. This position shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impacting the organization’s ability to function effectively.
  • This position is designated as Mission Essential. The position is needed to ensure facility operations in support of Continuity of Operations Programs (COOP)
  • and/or performance of duties and completion of tasks that are mission essential functions of the organization.
  • Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • This position requires a Tier 3 investigation.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Influencing/NegotiatingLeadershipPlanning and EvaluatingTransportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
