About the Position: Serve as a Dentist (Prosthodontics) within the Defense Health Agency (DHA), North Carolina Coast Market, Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune.

Duties
Perform examinations, diagnosis, and formulate full treatment plans for rehabilitation and maintenance of oral function, comfort, appearance, and health of patients with clinical conditions.
Complete diagnostic measures during dental examinations devising comprehensive treatment plans appropriately sequenced for cases with varying levels of difficulty using a broad knowledge of prosthodontics for both routine and complex cases.
Accurately identify and examine diagnostic radiographs to be used in the formulation of an appropriate treatment plan.
Provide instruction on dental care, administer anesthetics, prescribe medications and conduct oral health counseling.
Serve as a member of the professional dental staff and provide advisory and consultative services on various meetings, committees, conferences and/or boards.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- In accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DODI) 1402.5, Child Care National Agency Check and Inquiries (CNACI) background investigations are required for all individuals who have regular contact with children under 18 years of age.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- This position requires the employee to obtain Hepatitis B immunizations and Tuberculosis testing unless exempt by physician. Employee will be required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.

Basic Requirement for Dentist (Prosthodontic):
Education: Applicants must possess a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Residency: Applicants must have successfully completed an advanced specialty postgraduate residency program approved by the American Dental Association (ADA), or accepted equivalent program, in Prosthodontics.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Experience and/or Education Required:
A. Applicants must have completed a 3-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science, AND one year of full-time experience and/or training in professional dentistry work equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-13).
OR
B. Applicants must have four years of professional dentistry experience and/or training, equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-13).
OR
C. Applicants must have completed a residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science AND professional dentistry experience and/or training equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-13). When combining residency program and professional dentistry experience and/or training to qualify, the total must be equal to or greater than four years.
Note for Qualifying Experience: Qualifying experience involves the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. Examples of dentistry experience may include the removal of decay; filling cavities; straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth; treating gum diseases; performing corrective surgery; making measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth, administering anesthetics, writing prescriptions; and performing other requirements of the position. For specialty dentistry positions, experience, education, board certification, and/or training must clearly establish the applicant's status as a specialist in Prosthodontics.

Education
