You will serve as a PLUMBER in the FACILITY & INFRASTRUCTURE MGMT DEPT, FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHEAST of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will interpret drawings and blueprints to determine the layout of piping for plumbing projects. You will use plumbing tools (e.g., rules, levels, plumb bobs, dividers, gauges and meters, drain cleaning devices, hydrostatic pumps, torches) to complete installations and repairs. You will verify system installation (e.g., utility, supply, disposal) has correct slant, slope, fall, or level for flow, drainage, and sanitary operating conditions. You will determine placement of valves, traps, or unions for plumbing system operation. You will use shop mathematics to determine volume, pressure, layout angles, arcs, and circles for plumbing installation and repair tasks. You will troubleshoot plumbing systems and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires rotating shift work.
  • This position requires exposure to high noise levels.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision performing the duties such as: 1) Demonstrating working knowledge of how various supply, disposal, and utility systems and equipment, such as water and gas systems, fire sprinkler equipment, and water closets, are installed and operate; 2) Planning and laying out the installation and modification of various systems and equipment, for example, the routing, openings, slant, and level of gas and water lines, and the location and arrangement of water closets, sinks, and fire sprinkler equipment; 3) Interpreting and applying building plans and blueprints; 4) Using Shop Mathematics; 5) Wiping and pouring lead joints, seating equipment, and installing any combinations of couplings, unions, and joints needed for the proper operation of systems; 6) Using tools and equipment such as plumb bobs, mercury gauges, dividers, closet augers, hydrostatic pumps, and lead pots.
