The Office of Communications (AOC) is the FAA's one-stop shop for all things communications. AOC is responsible for the policy, direction, and management of the agency's communications with the media, Congress, industry, FAA's employees nationwide, and the general public.Due to the Agency's 24/7/365 operation, the FAA’s Media Relations Division may require working outside of normal duty hours.
Duties
In support of the Department of Transportation’s strategic goals, AOC provides well-coordinated, innovative, creative, and effective communications programs and campaigns that incorporate traditional public affairs and media relations support, with modern digital tactics. AOC also provides a full suite of resources covering administrative operations, media requests, press liaison activities, webmaster duties, speechwriting, live event planning, and social media responsibilities.

- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

- Due to the Agency's 24/7/365 operation, the FAA's Media Relations Division may require working outside of normal duty hours.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-J, FG/GS-14 level. This experience is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in aviation to communicate policies, procedures, or other purposes of the program with high-level officials and media representatives (i.e., industry representatives, legislative executives/Capitol Hill or other government entities, reporters, editors, or staffers).You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
