About the Position: This position is located within the DIR of Administration Patient Administration at Brooke Army Medical Center. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Providing technical support for the processing of medical records and clerical support for the physicians Chart Room. Analyzing medical records for the presence of required forms and completeness of data, i.e., discharge notes, proper signatures, test results, other technical and administrative data. Performing quality assurance duties while checking, analyzing, and evaluating patient charts for compliance on procedural requirements. Applying a practical knowledge of medical terminology and elementary knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Performing medical clerical duties such as entering information using medical automated systems; answering phones and correspondence; and customer service.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or preexisting immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, retrieving and/or inputting patient's medical records into healthcare systems; compiling reports and/or appropriate forms for department; assisting with medical records and forms for patients; and using multiple office automation software. OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
