This position is located in the behavioral health department at the Ft. Yates Indian Health Service Hospital in the Standing Rock Service Unit. The overall purpose of this position is to help patients and/or provide support systems to regain, maintain, or enhance their level of social functioning when affected by illness.
Duties
Provides full range of psychological services including evaluation, diagnosis, referral, psychotherapy, crisis intervention and specialized treatment modalities for mental health problems of adults, adolescents and families. Provides consultation to wide variety of hospital staff on mental health issues. Enter patient information into the electronic health record system.
Provides crisis interventions services to residents with a wide variety of acute mental health problems.
Administers and interprets basic psychological screening tools including depression, anxiety, suicide risk.
Consults with schools, courts, state social services and other organizations to assess mental health problems or issues.
Assists BH and hospital clients with case management or basic social services that might include Advanced Directives.
Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-9: 1 year of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples Include: provide basic assessment, diagnose, and treat a range of psychiatric illnesses; identify and assess psychosocial functioning; understand and respond to medical treatment; provide therapeutic intervention to improve wellness; provide intensive case management services to include liaison, consultation, and teaching relationships to multidisciplinary team; provide referral services and counseling to all age groups.
OR
2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree, or a master's degree in social work.
OR
a combination of experience and graduate education that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for GS-09 grade level.
GS-11: 1 year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position.This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples include: collaborate with other health professionals to assess client needs; refer patients to community resources; provide individual or group counseling; coordinate care with expert diagnostic and treatment consultation to medical providers; assess in-patient needs and patient discharge planning; provide therapy to all age groups utilizing a variety of accepted treatment techniques; develop treatment plans; provide interventions surrounding drug, alcohol, co-occurring disorders, and crisis intervention to potentially life-threatening emergencies.
OR
successfully completed three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
a combination of education and specialized experience as defined in the vacancy announcement that when combined, fully meets the minimum qualifications for this position.
AND
Selective Placement Factor:
I have a current, unrestricted license U.S. State license as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW).
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
